Service Learning Activity of Grade 8

Grade 8 students of Baba school visited “New Life Nepal,” an organization at Gokarneshwor, Kathmandu, a shelter for handicapped children as their Community Service Project on 25th of Asar. The organization was founded by Rajan Khanal. The main objective of the visit was to make the students realize that no mental or physical disability make people less important than other people in the society. This was one in a life time opportunity for our student to observe and have one on one interaction with mentally and physically challenged children in the organization.The official of the organization shared personal children’s profile, their physical problem, mental status and education provided to them. Some of the children sheltered by the organization had a miraculous recovery from the care they received from New Life Nepal that they were transferred to normal school.Our students played with them and exchange each other’s feelings to make them feel they are equally important member of the society. The students were so inspired to get involved in voluntary social work that they took an initiative to collect some funds and donate to the New Life Nepal.
