Grade 5 Field trip to (Special School for Disabled and Rehabilitation Center)

Service learning activity at Baba has given our students a special and unique opportunity to learn and develop a feeling of compassion, respect and sense of social responsibility by learning from their own experience.

Under Service Learning Activity, our fifth graders visited Special School for Disabled and Rehabilitation Center (SSDRC), a non-governmental and non -profit making organization working to provide special education and training for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Students donated money to buy some sports materials and ration for the children of SSDRC. Our students were very happy to see the charm in the faces of children and the staff while receiving our support. Ms. Sabita Upreti, chairperson of the SSDRC, oriented our students about autism, its symptoms and the kind of environment and support required for autistic children. They also got to know that people with autism are not different from them and everybody deserves love and respect. Following their visit to SSDRC the students are inspired to raise awareness about autism in their community and neighborhood too.
